Tamkang University and Trifecta Build New Industry-Academia Partnership

On October 21, 2026, Tamkang University and Trifecta MedTek Co., Ltd. held an industry–academia collaboration signing ceremony. Samuel Su, CEO of Bestat Pharmaservices Corp., signed the MOU on behalf of Trifecta, a subsidiary of Bestat Group, marking a new chapter of collaboration in scientific research, talent development, and industry applications.

During the ceremony, Dr. Yau-Hung Chen, Dean of the College of Science; Dr. Po-Shen Pan, Dean of the Office of Research and Development; Dr. Chih-Hsin Chen, Chair of the Department of Chemistry; and Samuel Su each delivered remarks. With the support and encouragement of the university's leadership, the collaboration is expected to expand from existing technical exchanges into broader university-level cooperation. Both sides aim to integrate academic research resources with industry expertise and ensure that the partnership goes beyond the signing itself by translating collaboration into concrete action in technology development, shared use of equipment and analytical techniques, and student training.

Trifecta possesses comprehensive capabilities and advanced facilities covering drug design through preclinical studies, addressing a wide range of multidisciplinary research needs. Through closer collaboration, both sides also plan to combine artificial intelligence, fundamental scientific research, and industry applications to accelerate the practical translation of research outcomes and drug development. The partnership is expected to strengthen the connection between academic innovation and industry needs while providing students with more opportunities to gain hands-on experience in real-world R&D environments.

In the remarks, Samuel highlighted his strong commitment to giving back to his alma mater as a Tamkang University alumnus and President of the Tamkang University Alumni Association Headquarters of Departments. Bestat, which he founded, has maintained long-standing industry–academia collaboration with Tamkang University. With Trifecta now joining this partnership, the relationship is further extended from clinical research into the preclinical development field. Samuel expressed his hope that, through joint efforts between academia and industry, scientific and research capabilities developed at the university can be transformed into practical business models that create value for companies, society, and ultimately human health.

This collaboration also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By integrating corporate R&D resources with university research capabilities, the partnership can strengthen students' practical skills and industry readiness while promoting research translation and innovation in biotechnology and pharmaceutical development.

With the MOU now formally signed, the collaboration between Tamkang University and Trifecta is moving from dialogue into concrete implementation. Going forward, both sides will focus on practical research and technical cooperation, gradually connecting talent, facilities, scientific expertise, and industry resources so that the partnership can evolve into tangible and sustainable outcomes.
