Cultivating AI and Data Talent Through Industry–Academia Partnership

Since 2014, Bestat Pharmaservices Corp. has maintained an industry–academia collaboration with Tamkang University, providing off-campus internship opportunities that help students apply classroom learning in real-world industry settings. Over the years, Bestat has trained more than 20 interns, supporting young talents as they explore career paths, gain practical experience, and contribute new professional energy to Taiwan's biopharmaceutical and data analytics industries.

The Department of Statistics and Data Science at Tamkang University recently held its “Academic Year 2026 Off-Campus Internship Signing Ceremony,” through which students will begin summer internships at Bestat Pharmaservices Corp. and Cathay Life Insurance. TKU emphasized that graduate-level internships place greater focus on professional capability development. Companies typically expect students to possess skills in statistical analysis, data processing, programming applications, and project execution. As AI technologies continue to be adopted across industries, the ability to apply AI tools and integrate cross-disciplinary knowledge has also become an important focus of internship training.

Through the internship program, students are able to step beyond the classroom and experience how professional knowledge is applied in real workplace settings. At Bestat, interns have the opportunity to observe and participate in the daily operations of a CRO, gaining exposure to project workflows, team collaboration, data-related tasks, and the practical standards required in clinical research. This hands-on experience helps students better understand industry expectations and prepare for their future careers with greater confidence.

Bestat CEO Samuel Su has long emphasized the importance of giving back to education and cultivating talent. For Bestat, industry–academia collaboration is not merely about offering internship positions; it is also a meaningful way to pass on industry experience to the next generation. Through its continued partnership with Tamkang University, Bestat hopes to help more students build connections across statistics, AI, data science, and biopharmaceutical development, becoming professionals equipped with both technical expertise and practical insight.

This long-term collaboration also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Bestat will continue to deepen the connection between industry and academia through internship programs and talent development, fostering shared growth among students, industries, and society.
