Sharing the Power of Humanities and Cross-Disciplinary Growth in the AI Era

On October 1, 2025, Samuel Su, CEO of Bestat, was invited to his alma mater, Tamkang University, to deliver a keynote speech entitled “Transformation, Transition, and Transcendence—Growth of the Self in the AI Era.”

Samuel shared his journey from a background in statistics to entering the biopharmaceutical field, and ultimately founding Bestat.  He emphasized that while science and engineering have become the mainstream disciplines of our time, the humanities remain the foundation that nurtures cross-disciplinary thinking, cultivates empathy, and sparks innovation.  Samuel noted that the inspiration from literature and history has been a driving force behind his ability to lead and achieve breakthroughs in the highly specialized biopharmaceutical industry.

During the lecture, Samuel also spoke about key turning points and challenges in his life, sharing how he faced uncertainties with humor and wisdom.  The audience responded with great enthusiasm, and expressed that they were deeply inspired, gaining a more profound understanding of cross-disciplinary personal growth.

The event also reflected the UN's SDGs:

SDG 4: Quality Education – Encouraging the next generation to go beyond the boundaries of their majors and develop cross-disciplinary capabilities.

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being – Integrating professional expertise with humanistic care, just as Bestat has done in clinical trials to benefit patients worldwide.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – Demonstrating the synergy of technology and the humanities to drive continuous innovation.

As Taiwan’s leading CRO, Bestat has always upheld the spirit of “Professionalism, Quality, and Efficiency.”  This philosophy stems from Samuel's passion for statistics and his deep appreciation of humanistic values.  “I will continue to lead Bestat in carrying this spirit forward, growing together with society”, Samuel says.
